Chemotherapy

Chemotherapy can help with prostate cancers which have stopped responding to hormone treatment. It is not used for people who have early (localised) prostate cancers. If we feel that this would be appropriate, we would refer you to our oncology colleagues for this treatment.

Docetaxel (Toxotere) is one of the most commonly used drugs and is given as an infusion into a vein. You have to be given the treatment in hospital, but you don't usually have to stay in.
