    Until relatively recently, there have been few options available to men who have urinary incontinence after radical prostate surgery for prostate cancer. This common problem can have a profound impact on men's quality if life, ancd it affects about 10% of men after radical surgery.

    Treatments include pelvic floor exercises, which can be effective for many men. Tablet treatment is of limited benefit. Some men with severe incontinence choose to undergo an operation to insert an artificial sphincter, but this is a fairly big operation and there can be complications and mechanical problems with an artificial sphincter. Men with moderate degrees of incontinence are often left in a quandry: they have bothersome symptoms which limit thier everyday lives, yet they don't wish to undergo a big procedure with the risk of complications.

    The AdVance male sling is a procedure which can be performed relatively simply with an overnight hospital stay in most cases. It can improve or cure the majority of moderately severe incontinence problems without the need for major surgery.
