Chronic Prostatitis - What is it?

Prostatitis is inflammation of the prostate gland, often resulting in swelling or pain.

There are a number of symptoms of prostatitis:

  • Pain (in the groins, back passage, or deep inside the pelvis)
  • Problems passing water
  • Sexual dysfunction including pain on ejaculation
  • General health problems
  • Depression

There are a number of different types of prostatitis. The most common type is chronic prostatitis, often now called Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome (CPPS). Chronic pelvic pain can be difficult to diagnose and treat, resulting in frustration for the patient and doctor.

Our doctors at the Nottingham Prostate Clinic have over 60 years combined experience in treating chronic pelvic pain / prostatitis. We adopt a stepwise approach to management, starting with a detailed consultation including physical examination. We will then formulate a structured treatment regime with you in order to address each of your troublesome symptoms.

We are happy to accept direct bookings from patients who would like a second opinion regarding their symptoms.
