Owen has been a consultant urological surgeon in Nottingham for nearly seven years and has a specialist interest in prostate cancer and bladder cancer.
He is Head of Department at Nottingham Urology Centre, Lead Cancer Clinician of the Urology Department and Lead Cancer Clinician of Nottingham University Hospitals Trust.
He trained at St. Mary’s Hospital Medical School, London, and developed a keen interest in urology at an early stage of his career. His urology training took place in the Trent region before travelling to Melbourne, Australia to undertake a prostate cancer fellowship working for Professor Tony Costello.
His surgical interests include laparoscopic prostatectomy and High Intensity Focussed Ultrasound (HiFU) for prostate cancer. Research interests include the psychological basis of treatment decisions in prostate cancer, and PCA3 genetic testing in prostate cancer, for which he is UK Chief Investigator for a large European Trial.
Owen is married with two children. Interests outside of medicine include rugby and music.
