Akhlil Hamid DM, FRCS(Urol.)
Akhlil qualified from Nottingham University Medical School in 1995. After completing his basic surgical training, he returned to Nottingham and spent two years in full time research achieving a DM in the areas of bladder and prostate disease before going on to six years of higher surgical training in urology.
At the end of his training, Akhlil spent 15 months in Australia undertaking a sub-specialty fellowship program in laparoscopic urology and in particular kidney and prostate laparoscopic surgery. He returned to the UK in 2007 and was appointed to Nottingham City Hospital as a Consultant Urologist in Laparoscopic Urology, Kidney and Prostate Oncology. With his fellowship experience, Akhlil has helped to develop both upper tract and pelvic laparoscopy in Nottingham Urology Centre, which now has the biggest laparoscopic experience in the East Midlands. In addition, he maintains an interest in the treatment of bladder dysfunction.
He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, England and a member of the British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS) - Section of Oncology and Endourology. His operations and outcomes are audited by BAUS on an annual basis to ensure the highest standards are maintained.
Akhlil is married with three children and enjoys outdoor pursuits including running, golf and tennis.
